In April 2021, a large landslide occurred in Smalfjord in Tana, causing about 250 metres of road to collapse into the fjord. To restore the area, Sjøentreprenøren was tasked with dredging away the clay deposits over an area of approximately 1,000 m². A total of about 5,000 cubic metres with varying depth from 1 to 11 metres was removed. The clay deposits were transported and deposited in an approved sea deposition site out in the fjord, in accordance with current environmental requirements.
After dredging, we established a jetty which the main contractor later paved and filled in at the back. In addition, we carried out erosion protection of two cliffs that had appeared as a result of the landslide, to stabilise the area and reduce the risk of new landslides. The work required precision and good coordination with other parties to ensure progress and quality.
Effective mobilisation and execution - to the great delight of the local population
